Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your first appointment.

Do I need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist at Better Physiotherapy Bundoora?

No referral is needed. You can book directly online or by calling (03) 9467 6900. However, if your GP writes you a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) referral, you may claim a rebate on up to 5 sessions per calendar year.

How long does an initial physiotherapy appointment take?

Your initial appointment is 30 minutes — a focused, efficient assessment of your condition, history, and goals, with treatment beginning in the same session. Follow-up appointments are 20 minutes.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring any relevant scan or X-ray reports, your Medicare card, private health insurance card, and a list of current medications. Wear or bring comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated.

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?

This depends on your condition, severity, and goals. Many acute conditions improve significantly within 4–6 sessions. Chronic or post-surgical conditions may require 8–16 sessions. Your physiotherapist will give you a realistic estimate at your first appointment.

Is physiotherapy covered by Medicare?

Yes — and we bulk bill all Medicare EPC sessions, meaning no gap fee for you. With a GP referral and a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, you can access up to 5 bulk-billed physiotherapy sessions per calendar year.

Do you offer same-day physiotherapy appointments in Bundoora?

Yes. We offer same-day and next-day appointments for urgent injuries and acute pain. Call (03) 9467 6900 or book online and select the earliest available time.

Can I claim physiotherapy on private health insurance?

Yes. We have HICAPS on-site, so your private health rebate is processed instantly at the clinic — you only pay the gap. Most private health funds cover physiotherapy under Extras cover.

Do you offer telehealth physiotherapy?

Yes. We offer secure video telehealth consultations for follow-ups, exercise reviews, and patients unable to attend in clinic. Medicare telehealth items are available with a valid referral.
